Geani Soares
Dancer
Born in São Paulo’s South Zone with strong Northeastern roots, Geani grew up surrounded by music, dance, and family celebrations. From early Forró with relatives to Axé choreographies and living room performances inspired by Calypso and YouTube dance trends, rhythm is in her veins and dance has always been a big part of her life.
After moving to Australia in 2017, she began teaching Sertanejo informally, sharing Brazilian culture with her community. In 2021, her passion for dance was reignited through Plusdance, where she embraced high-energy choreographies, assisting in their classes and performing at Brazilian Carnaval events and shows such as Pagodão do Deco and Rio Projekt’s stage show, The Carnaval Experience.
In addition to her prowess for Axé and Pagodão, Geani is also immersed in training Samba no pé, embracing the art form as both a personal journey and cultural expression. By day, she works as an Executive Assistant in higher education. Nevertheless, it’s through dance that she truly comes alive, proudly honouring her roots and sharing her vibrant Brazilian energy with the world.
