Rio Projekt’s Brazilian dancers travel to Brazil annually to parade at an elite level in Rio Carnaval and perform and train with the masters of Brazilian dance. They spend extensive periods of time in Rio de Janeiro, immersing themselves in the culture and working with the top Samba dancers, choreographers and artists.

Sashya Jay is one of only a handful of artists and the only Brazilian dance choreographer in Australia who is officially accredited by Brazil’s “King of Samba” Carlinhos Salgueiro, to teach his signature style. She is also a Passista and works closely with Alex Coutinho, the director of Rio’s most coveted Passista ala at Paraiso do Tuiuti.

The most revered and famous Brazilian show in the world, the Salgueiro Passista Show is a major weekly tourist attraction in Rio de Janeiro. Directed by the “King of Samba” Carlinhos Salgueiro, the show features the best of the best in Rio and is renowned for its artistic superiority.

TRAINING IN BRAZIL.
Ensaios (rehearsals) are an essential part of the preparation for Carnaval. From the streets to the Sambodromo (the avenue of Carnaval itself), the Samba schools’ rehearsals are timed, parades are simulated and the Passistas work hard on building their stamina and perfecting their performance in the lead up to the big night.
