Puja Devapura

Puja was born and raised in Sri Lanka, where she grew up immersed in Kandyan Dance, a traditional Sri Lankan folkloric style which gave her the opportunity to represent her roots with pride and connect to her heritage.

At the age of 18, Puja moved to Australia to pursue her higher studies and has a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Sociology. Her education deepened her appreciation for Indigenous cultures and strengthened her commitment to representing them with integrity and respect.

In 2020, Puja began her journey in Samba, Brazilian Funk, and Afro at Escola de Samba Sydney. These dances reignited her passion for dance and enriched her connection to Indigenous-rooted movement, allowing her to explore their histories and cultural significance on a deeper level.

Alongside Puja’s dance journey, she works full-time as a manager at Mecca Brands, balancing her professional career with her dedication to honouring and celebrating the vibrant cultural traditions that inspire her.
